Moinjaro as alternative to Metformin on NHS?

I'm type 2 and currently managing my condition with diet and exercise, however my HBA1C has crept back up to 50 and I was considering going back on medication. I'm also obese with hypertension so wanted to try Mounjaro. Is this an option on the NHS or would I have to self fund?

I am also on the waiting list for tier 3 NHS weight management program, but it's been 20 months now and they have said they won't be offering Mounjaro.

My question is, can I be prescribed Mounjaro as a type 2 diabetic that has tried metformin before or will they offer other medications?

You may qualify for that medication but first it may be better to review your diet as over time your carb intake may have crept up pushing your HbA1C into the diabetic zone.
Have a look at this link as there may be some ideas that can get you back on track with your diet. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
The other option would be to try the Soups and Shakes regime to give you a kick start. They are available from various supermarkets but the only thing you wouldn't get by 'doing it on your own' would be the support from the program councillor.
