MODY and CELIAC

Relationship to Diabetes
MODY
Hi
I have been diagnosed with MODY for about a year and been back to the consultant today. I was given multiple blood tests as well as one for celiac disease. Can any one tell me why?

Welcome to the forum, Hannah123.
Did you ask your consultant what the blood tests were for?
Type 1 diabetes is associated with higher risk of developing coeliac disease, as both are immunological conditions. I'm not sure about any correlation between MODY and coeliac disease. Coeliac is the spelling more often used in UK, so might help you with web searches.
 
Thanks for your response. I didn't realise I was heaving that particular blood test until seeing the nurse after the consultant! Thanks, I will try that spelling in some searches.

I think you will find it's routine for type 1 and MODY to have annual bloods done for everything under the sun so don't worry 🙂

Did you ask the nurse taking your blood? They should have been able to tell you why.
