I’ve just got an iPhone 7. I’m now not sure whether I should use my new iPhone or carry on using the scanner for my Freestyle libre.

Any recommendations?

Yes, use both as the fancy takes you. They give identical results. But always start up with the reader first. If you fire up with the phone App, the reader won’t work.

I like having both running because the reader has a longer battery life than even my iPhone XR. When I’m out and about I tend to use the phone- less stuff to carry.

I use both, too. The Reader's a bit faster to use (takes a few seconds to get the right spot on the phone) so it's easier when I'm walking. But the phone's screen is nice and big so it's nicer to see (and the Time in Range screen shows four bands rather than three). And it uploads automatically to LibreView so I don't need to worry about doing that.

The phone app allows you to enter half units of insulin, which the reader doesn’t. Generally I find the reader interface very clunky and now only ever use it to start a sensor.

You can get the reader to accept half units if you go into the health professional settings bit, the passscode is caa1c.

Use the scanner because if you need surgery for any reason the scanner can go to surgery with you your phone can't.

I use both, I always start with the reader itself "just in case" anything happens to my phone or it runs out of power, I do prefer the app xx

Reader at night ....... less expensive than dropping and smashing phone on wood floor!

I use phone mainly but whilst at work (school) the reader in lessons and around the children so they don’t think the no mobile is double standards !

I use the reader to start it only. But as a male, I find the less I carry the better as it all goes in the pocket.

You can use both devices. Always start sensor on the reader first and then scan with the phone.

I like having both available for when my phone is plugged in charging.

generally I prefer to use my phone as it’s one less thing to carry 🙂
