Mixed chopped nuts

Good afternoon, a simple question. I have checked and rechecked, chopped mixed nuts seem to be ok. I understand they are calorific but are ok on the healthy fat side and okish re carbs. Is that correct, or am I missing something?

I figured I have managed to vastly reduce my chocolate, crisps and biscuit counts But felt it was only fair I find something else to replace them., I started with walnuts and then progressed to chopped mixed nuts. It is a question of managing the amount I eat. Sigh.

I snacked on a whole pile this, afternoon and then tested later , it returned 5.8. I am ok with that as it was an experiment. I think may be 60 grms a pop might be ok. Not on a daily basis Or does that sound too much?

Peanuts are my go-to snack - low carb, high fat but predominantly the 'good' unsaturated kind. I also have crushed walnuts with my berries and Greek yogurt for breakfast instead of the Weetabix I used to have. The one downside is that nuts are high calorie so I don't overdo it - 3 or 4 handfuls a day at most.

I recently discovered chocolate-dipped almonds by Deliciously Ella, so I occasionally have a few as a treat. Even a handful is just under 8g carb.

Ok, tomorrow am off to check out the chocolate- dipped almonds 🙂

I buy salted almonds, chili peanuts and walnuts from buywholefoodsonline. They are my go to snack when I get the munchies.

Just looked at buywholefoodsonline. Yum indeed, just need to learn 'moderation'.Not easy.

My problem is, the bigger bag you buy, the more you eat. Of course it makes more financial sense to buy in bulk, but if they are there in the house I eat them especially once the bag is opened. If I buy smaller bags I can moderate my eating of them.

I put them out of sight in a high cupboard and just decant enough for a couple of days into a small tub.

I also tried macadamia nuts, but they were too oily and made me feel queasy

I found them in the Free From section in our Waitrose. The chocolate is 65 percent cocoa, so borderline extra dark.

That is exactly the same for me. I keep on going back to the packet for just another handful.

I tried that. Alas it didn't work. Sigh

I can't handle a bag of nuts in the house that isn't empty.
So I have to eat.
I have a similar problem with peanut butter.

I love Walnuts, but they make my mouth itch.

The same for me. I have managed not to buy peanut butter for a while, so am sort of solving that issues. However, I replaced that with bags of mixed nuts. Now haveto learn how to handle them!

I decant the big bag into ziplock little bags of 30g each and keep in a plastic tub so only take out one when I fancy them and then don't have to phaff about weighing them.

Yup! I get that too. My local supermarket swaps and changes whether the smaller or larger bags of peanuts are the most cost effective. But buying the bigger bag never seems to last twice as long for me…

The ideas about decanting into smaller portions are really good ones.

The only guaranteed way for me to not eat/drink stuff I’m trying to cut back on is not to have it in the house!

Almonds are my big swing factor when it comes to gaining or losing weight. I've trained myself to eat just 6 at a time, not a handful: Stage 1.

When my weight starts peaking above 65kg, I move to Stage 2: rationing to 60 a day.

When it starts moving below 64.5kg, back to Stage 1.

Trouble is I decant 30g into a small tub, put the full bag away in the cupboard, eat the 30g , return to the full bag and eat some more. I am going to have to learn discipline and moderation. Hmm

It's not easy, we have some very high cupboards that I can't reach without steps, even so I eat more nuts than I should. But I figure it's better than biscuits or toast.
