Relationship to Diabetes

I’m just wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar. I am type one diabetic and was 9 weeks pregnant before I had a miscarriage. My blood sugars were on average around 5 whilst pregnant. Since this miscarriage I have been doing everything right but I feel that my insulin is just not working. It has now been a month and my blood sugars are still not coming down- usually above 18. Is this normal and if so how long does it last for?!

Sorry to hear this, Abby.

I don't know, to be honest, but yes I would have thought you'd have got over it - as far as diabetes is concerned - by now. Who are you in touch with medically speaking - cos I think you should be talking to them for advice really.

Oh I’m so sorry for your loss. Hormones can take a while to go back to normal (4-6 weeks) so it’s possible that it’s just normal but you’re concerned and that’s a steep rise from where you were at so I would have a chat with a doctor. I presume you’ve upped your insulin to deal with it day to day. Do you otherwise feel well?

So very sorry to hear of your loss.
Which insulins do you use and MDI or a pump and what have you tried to bring your levels down?

Really sorry to hear that @Abbynicole It’s possible that residual hormones are affecting your blood sugar, but 18 is quite high. Could there be something else going on? It’s easy to assume it’s related to the miscarriage (and it might be) but I’d try to rule out other causes as well.
