MILLOM Community Hospital is to reopen its beds after weeks of angst in the community.

The Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has announced they will be reopening four beds in Millom Hospital’s inpatient unit on May 19, with the remaining five to open by August.

The news comes after a successful meeting between the Trust and Copeland MP Jamie Reed which took place this morning.

The inpatient ward at Millom Hospital has been closed to new patients since April, causing rumours of closure to spread around the town.

These rumours prompted the Save Millom Community Hospital Facebook group, which amassed more than 1500 members.
