Sounds Yummy 🙂
Do you think it would work if you replaced some of the flour with ground almonds, thus cutting the carbs even further?

Yes that seems sensible but do it weight for weight plus this recipe was for wholemeal flour but I used wholemeal self raising flour and have found it very tasty and it lasts a long while. Makes a good Christmas cake too! enjoy you could be having a slice within an hour. Also great with custard!

How many watts is 'medium'?

Would make a huge difference if High was either 500 or 850, wouldn't it? Yours might be 1,000w, my old one was, the new one is 750w.

See what I mean? LOL

The recipe is for a 650w microwave. When the recipe was written (1985) thats all there was.

It's all right for you T1s that can inject for it, but I don't see myself going anywhere near it with all that fruit.

There are times when I wish I could eat a small slice of something like this. I miss Dundee Cake on a Sunday afternoon when I have visitors here. They still get the cake but I know it will double my levels. I make do with a Rich Tea Finger biscuit, 3.8 carbs but it doesn't taste quite the same.😉

To Avoid Copyright infringement!

Austin Mini, If the recipe is not yours then I'd link to the original to avoid copyright infringement.

As per the header in this section.

Any recipes posted on the board must be original and not copied from a recipe book. Any recipes that are found to be taken from a recipe book will be removed.

Not trying to be a spoilsport, just give the original owner recognition, either link to it or state from an original recipe by xxxxx taken from the cookbook xxxxx
etc etc.

Whilst it is polite to give the origin of a recipe, it is not possible to copyright a recipe in the UK or US. (unlike some of the graphic posting in the jokes section):

Alex Papakyriacou, of intellectual property law firm Briffa. "Case law suggests that reproducing a written recipe in the preparation of a dish is not copyright infringement.

We would be in a right mess if you could not pass on Brian Turner's recipe for Yorkshire Pudding for instance.

God knows where I got it from? It was from a book in Southbourne library back in 1988. I wrote it down on a piece of paper. Isnt this going a bit TOO far?

Then,
taken from a cookbook circa 1988 title and author unknown.

That way you're not giving the impression it's your own recipe.

Oh for heavens sake give it a rest.

Any graphic type material/images that have a name or logo attached are displayed if none exist it would be impossible to prove or disprove ownership.

As regards passing on Brian Turners recipe that's no problem (because you've stated it's Brian Turners) if that wasn't stated it might be construed to be Vicsetters recipe!

Me too. Never tried a microwave cake before ... maybe it will be like Xmas pudding? In which case I have an excuse to use up that jar of brandy butter in the cupboard 🙂

A) I am sure you are wrong, it is polite to give an attribution where it is known, but a list of ingredients for a recipe are NOT copyrightable and should not be able to be copyrighted. Most recipes are derivations of older recipes. The recipe for Yorkshire pudding is equal quantities (by volume) of eggs, flour and milk. Published by Brian Turner in one of his books, but also published elsewhere in other peoples books. Not copyright.

B) I find your criticism of Austin pedantic and incorrect. Where are your attributions for your jokes or are you saying they are all original to you! Also Graphic images (cartoons, photos etc) are copyright and cannot be published without the copyright holders permission. Displaying the logo does not count.

See my avatar for a picture of the cake. I tried to upload but ran out of kbs?

Debates about copyright apart, the header of the forum clearly states:

Any recipes posted on the board must be original and not copied from a recipe book. Any recipes that are found to be taken from a recipe book will be removed.

Whilst it may seem picky, where do we draw the line? I'm not a lawyer and don't wish to put the forum at risk of any challenge, nor do I (or any of the moderators) want to spend time investigating or debating the origin of a recipe, so if you know it's not your own original recipe then please don't post it here.
