hi all. how can i tell if the symptoms im having are from metformin reaction or low or high blood sugar.
Normally I think the only symptom you'd see from Metformin is stomach upset.hi all. how can i tell if the symptoms im having are from metformin reaction or low or high blood sugar.
You might be feeling faint due to dehydration and loss of electrolytes.diarrhoea, hot and cold, fainting feeling. only newly diognosed and on slow release metform 2 a day. havnt been given any testing kit
Yes, i understand. I do try keep up my liquids. I dnt get why it happens just the once out of a whole week though and ive been really good with what i put in foodwiseg . Cld you reccomend a good blood test kit please. You might be feeling faint due to dehydration and loss of electrolytes.
It is NHS policy not to give out testing kits so we need to buy our own - but once normal numbers are seen the need to test reduces drastically.

Most meters do pretty much the same job and have to comply with the same performance standards (though some go over and above those standards more than others). The major ongoing cost is that of the strips, which can vary up to £30 or more for a pot of 50.
The most reliable and affordable meters members here have found are probably the SD Gluco Navii or the Spirit Tee2 - which both have test strips at around £8 for 50
Thank you for infoI had terrible upset stomach with original Metformin and the doctor put me on the Slow Release reversion and it stopped. I've once been put on Sukarto (?) because it's cheaper to prescribe but had a terrible response to that - even worse than original Metformin, so it's noted on my prescription I have a bad reaction, so it doesn't get prescribed in future.
