Are there tablets other than Metformin as I suffer from CKD and Type 2

I believe there are but it is something you would have to discuss with you GP,
depends on your Blood Glucose Levels do you self test?

Within the limits but insulin only 20 units quite low, but hate needles goes back to my national service days

Yes - Sulfonureas - eg Gliclazide. In any event for all and any treatment of Type 2 with CKD it is essential to monitor the BG very frequently as hypoglycaemia becomes even more of an issue.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Yes their are, I was taken off them for the same reason a few years ago. I think it depends on how far the ckd has progressed as I’ve had ckd since my dx back in 94 my kidney function has gradually declined over the years
I was on Metformin for many years .

Do have a word with your Renal team as they should know if Metformin is still appropriate for your kidneys, Failing yur the Gp .

Main oral alternatives are drugs like glicazide, sitagliptin and canglaflozin. They are also injectable GLPs but their use is restricted due to the cost.
