Hi, I'm a newbie. Can you help? I've just found I am right out of my Metformin, I have ordered more from Pharmacy2U but it will take a few days to come, will this effect me?

Hi and welcome.
A few days won't make a significant difference. You can usually make much more impact on your Blood Glucose levels by following a low carb way of eating than you will see from taking Metformin anyway, so maybe cut back on your bread, pasta, breakfast, cereals, rice and potatoes a bit, as well as the obvious cakes and biscuits and sweets, at least until you get more tablets and that should more than make up for the deficit in medication.

Thank you for your reassurance, I shan’t worry too much now.

Many get caught out in occasions with meds. As @rebrascora has said reducing the carbohydrates that you eat will help to reduce your glucose levels in the interim whilst waiting for your meds, and can also help you to manage your Diabetes alongside your medication.

All the carbohydrates that you eat are converted to glucose once inside se are in the more obvious things like potatoes, pasta and rice as well as the cakes and biscuits. They are also heavy in many preprepared meals. If you simply work out the amount of carbs you are eating at present you could make swaps or reduce portion sizes to bring your glucose levels down.

Welcome to the forum @Barbara Evans

Hope you are able to manage your BGs OK in between your metformin doses. Hopefully the way that Metformin generally builds up in the system will provide you with a degree of ‘tail’ from your last dose in the days in between.

Hope your delivery arrives promptly!
