I have been on metformin for 2 weeks, no side effects, today i have had a really upset tummy :( could it be this as i would have thought it would have been sooner than today?
Or probably unlucky with a bug

I've been on Metformin for a few weeks and expected a possible reaction at the start. I've been fine and when I mentioned this to my daughter, who happens to be a GP, she said that I was probably going to be ok, as it's normally at the start of the treatment when this side effect arises. However, we are all different and it may very well be a late reaction. Sorry if this does not really give you a definitive answer. Hope your tummy improves soon.

Thankyou, terrible cramps then have to run to the loo, sorry if TMI 😳
Hi goosey (tempted to follow that with goosey gander...but...bet you've heard that so many times:D)...I had a very similar start...fine for the first couple of weeks...then the tummy trouble...it stopped shortly after...no problems since...it may settle down soon...however if it does continue...you can ask for the extended release Metformin...which is said to be 'gentler' on the system.

Yes...I remember it well goosey...so unpleasant...but...if it doesn't settle soon...speak to your GP...there are other alternatives to explore.

I will see what its like over the next couple of days

Hope your tummy settles soon. Go back to your GP if it does not settle soon. There are a many alternatives you can try .
