Hi gunner b, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you asked your doctor about the slow release version, Glucophage SR? Might be something you can tolerate better.
Hi gunner b, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you asked your doctor about the slow release version, Glucophage SR? Might be something you can tolerate better.
I have had problems taking tablets, I was on Metformin for six weeks but couldn't take the upset stomach any longer, lets not mention the disgusting wind. After Metformin I was put on Glucopharge SR which gave me even bigger stomach upsets, I only took that for four days. Then there was Gliclazide (sp), at first I thought that was ok but at the end of the first week I started getting a pain when swallowing just behind the breast bone, by the end of the second week even swallowing saliva was a problem so that was the end of that, then there was Januvia which wasn't any better, my GP referred me to a specialist with the proviso of going on to Byetta, he didn't think Byetta would suit me because it can cause gastric problems, for the last two weeks I have been on Insulin, a very low dose twice a day and up to now I'm coping with it without many problems.
I hope you find something to suit you, I would go back to your Doctors and ask to be put on something else.
