Hi✋Hello
I was wondering if there is an alternative to Metformin that doesn’t give you horrible side effects?
HiThere is a slow release version which some people find easier on the stomach. Are you taking it mid meal as that can help.
But yes there are alternatives but you need to ask your GP and tell them you are unwell with the metformin.
How long have you been taking it.
If your HbA1C is not too high then dietary changes alone may be sufficient.
Would you like to say a bit more about your diagnosis as that will help people help you.
If your Hba1C is only 48 then tightening up on your diet is likely to be just as effective as metformin in bringing it down.Hi
I was taking it for over a year, my HbA1C is currently 48.
The pharmacist at the surgery recently put me on the slow release metformin and a higher dose to see if this was any better, unfortunately it gives me horrendous stomach pains.
I have stopped taking it and trying to change my diet even more.
Thanks for replying yes I think that’s worth trying. If your Hba1C is only 48 then tightening up on your diet is likely to be just as effective as metformin in bringing it down.
