hi ,I just would like to know how long can you take metformin for before it stops working .I have type2 diabetes and have been taking it for 5 years and have at this moment in time a good hbalc level of 45.

I don't know whether it ever stops working but long term use, particularly for those on higher doses, can lead to lower levels of vitamin B12.
