Metformin/weight loss

Hi, I am 2 yrs diagnosed and on metformin from the start (4*500mg daily). i have struggled to lose weight since diagnosis but suddenly (the last week) have lost 6kgs?? Whilst I’m pleased I’ve lost weight, I’m concerned as to the speed/sudden start of loss. Has anyone else had any similar or got any advice on whether I need to see my HCP?

I think rapid and unexplained weight loss does need to be investigated - it may be related to your diabetes (particularly if you have been misclassified), or it may be a sign that something else is going on.

Do you monitor your own BG levels with a monitor?
 
Hi. If the weight loss is accompanied by high BS, then it's possible you are T1 and not T2. If this continues then ask the GP for the two T1 tests.
