Why can’t you swallow tablets, is it due to a medical condition? If it is then speak to your GP about liquid forms of medication. If it’s not due to a medical condition then you do need to learn how to swallow tablets to take your medication. You have put you are 'at risk of diabetes' so metformin seems a bit over the top at that stage and some dietary changes may be all that is needed especially as you have an issue swallowing the tablets.Hi thank you both for your help and for letting me know that there is a liquid version of metformin, which I’ve now requested off my Gp. Perhaps you can change your profile to say Type 2 so as not to confuse people.Hi, I was pre diabetic for a couple of years, but I have just been told that I am now type 2 diabetic. I’ve been on a low carb diet for a few wks, but it hasn’t lowered my blood glucose very much. There is a family history of type 2 and both my brothers have it and have to take metformin. I’ve now been prescribed the liquid form of metformin, which I should get tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
