metformin tablet size question

im on 850mg mr tabs am having major issues around taking them and being sick just cant keep thrm down due to size cant cut them in half as they are mr. does anyone know if there is a smaller size of them so i would be taking more maybe that way i would be able to keep them down perhaps have tried the powdered form of it a long time ago
 
Not sure if there is a smaller dose Gail.

Have you tried drinking a glass of water using a straw? This might help to get them down.
 
What do you drink to take them? I can only swallow pills if I drink milk...if I have water, it makes me gag.
 
I don't know the size of Metformin, but I can choke on my thyroid tablet, which is minute.
I once discussed my "tablet phobia" with my GP. He said not to tip your head back when swallowing, but to look straight ahead. Ever since then I've managed to swallow bigger sized tablets (ibuprofen) much better than before 🙂

I hope you can resolve your problem

I take the 500mg tablets, which I know isnt the same as you but I have found that they come in different shapes/sizes of tablet. I either get the round ones which seem huge (and quite chalky if that makes sense) or the oval shaped ones (which tend to be easier to swallow). I'm just wondering if this would make a difference to you or help in any way? I tend to use the same pharmacy but on occasion I have used others and found that each dispense different 'shaped' tablets. Hope this helps 🙂
 
Taking pills yukk

The only way I have found which works for me - is to get food on the front of my tongue -- then toss the pills behind the food and swallow a bit quick, but there again I have always had a problem with them not going down, but I can propel them some distance!!!!!

lol made me giggle that one 😉......they are pretty big shame they can't make em small...i hate swallowing pills at the best of the times, and lets face it when you first got the prescription after being diagnosed your like omg that is huge!!!! does it go in my mouth or up my ermmmm!!! 😛
