I am trying to get metformin 500mg sachets, but not any pharmacist in my area have got it in stock. Are there any known shortages?

There seem to be various local glitches in between wholesalers, distributors and pharmacies.

Hope it is only shortlived, and you are able to get supplies from another pharmacy or chain near you (this can be trickier now more prescriptions are sent direct to nominated pharmacies)

Metformin doesn’t seem to be one of the meds that is having serious difficulties (like the GLP1s). Perhaps it is because sachets are less common than regular tablets or the SR capsules?

I have actually spoken to Morningside Healthcare, who make the sachets. They are calling it a 'manufacturing problem', but I understand that it involves one whole batch having become contaminated, and having to be destroyed. They are saying that supplies will be restored at some point in September, but I have no idea if this is early, middle or late September.
