Metformin forever

Seems to be a bit of a wonder drug. like the bit about delaying complications I think he said.

Should we all be on it then?
 
Makes you wonder? My husband is on statins even though his cholesterol is low, because his father had a stroke at 59. My GP strongly believes in the 'prevention is better than cure' approach. Perhaps the Metformin argument is a good one for those of us with isulin resistance? He's not the first medic with this view. Katie

Ten years ago some medics were suggesting EVERYONE over the age of 50 should be on metformin( not just T2s) because of its Heart Protection properties.
Its actually based, the active ingredient, on a traditional herbal remedy for Diabetes that was used for centuries - French Lilac ("Goats Rue" - Gallega Officianalis).
