G M Two and a half weeks ago I was put on Metformin 1 x 500 per day but after 8 days I had to stop them (bathroom 6 or 7 times a day) I spoke to my DN who arranged a prescription for SR ,what a dramatic difference its the COMPLETE OPPOSITE, tomorrow is the last day of the 6 week "X Pert " course at my Drs Surgery so I will have a word with the DN ,does Metformin and the SR version have the same effect on other people??

Good morning emmerdale, welcome to the forum 🙂 Many of our members have reported similar differences between the normal and SR versions of metformin, good to hear that you are doing much better on the SR 🙂 It sounds like you have a good team, and it's great to hear that you're doing the XPert course. Have you been diagnosed long? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have - often other's experiences can be just as (if not more) useful than what the health professionals tell you.

Hi Ive been diagonised Type 2 for about 20 months I appeared to be doing fine until my last 6 month appointment then Hba1c came back as 9.2(77) cholesterol total 3.2 Hdl 1 LDL 1 Tryg 2.67 so Im trying hard again.😎

Its probably a little early for me to say - I swapped on Friday to SR after 1 year on normal.

I swapped as suddenly I started to suffer from violent sickness (had been okay for a year on it) but since Friday no sickness so fingers crossed. I did feel slightly sick this morning but nothing like previously.

I was also taking it morning and night before and now just take it in the evening. I still have the need to dash to the loo 😱, but by taking in the evening all is calm until I wake in the morning and this I don't mind too much as it now means I can get on with my exercise without all the previous issues:D.

So, so far I don't have problems the other way. I have been told though that it can take up to 3 months for it to build in your system - so maybe give it a few weeks yet?🙂
