I've been on metformin for almost 2 months now. Haven't really had many side effects apart from a few dodgy tummies!

The one thing I have noticed is that when I pass urine there's nowhere near the amount that I used to pass. I've been pretty good diet wise and have upped my exercise but I just cannot shift the excess weight. I've anything I'm up 1.5kg from starting metformin.

Is this normal?? I'm now worries that my kidneys aren't working properly.

The best thing to do is go back to your health care provider. Metformin is different for everyone as is diabetes. So how the medication reacts with you is different from you or I. You may have problems it might have nothing to do with metformin. So the best advice is to let the experts know .
Welcome to the forum, there are many others who have had this happen and I hope they share.
