Meter with same strips as Accu Chek Expert

Does anyone know where I can get a spare meter that uses the same test strips as the accu chek expert? My expert meter isn’t reliably working at the moment, it is often fine but intermittently keeps switching off or not switching on. Accu chek have given me a solution that works but is annoying (involves taking batteries out, pressing buttons, waiting a bit, etc).

Im looking to set up MySugr so I’ve got a backup bolus calculator, and would like a backup meter too. But I can’t find out whether there are any meters that use the same test strips. Getting my GP to change strips is a nightmare and always ends up with me only getting 50 for 2 months instead of 200, and then having to sort that. So ideally I want to source a backup meter that uses the same test strips as the expert meter. Any ideas?

I think the Aviva takes the same strips as the Expert? But I confess it’s a few years since I used accu-check meters

It does as I just said lol but looking at Roche's website the basic Aviva has also been discontinued so most likely only available from the likes of eBay like the link I posted lol xx

Ahh I didn’t think of eBay, I’d been looking at online shops. It might be an eBay one then as I need to have something reliable! And yes I’d checked the accu chek website but all their new meters use different test strips.

If I can find my Expert I'd send you it as I switched to a Contour Next One months ago, can't guarantee it wouldn't run into the same problems though xx

I think they’ll all get the same problem in the end as they wear out. I’ve been meaning to set up mysugr as I use the libre sometimes but still finger prick to calculate insulin, I’m thinking if I set up mysugr I could try using the libre readings for calculating insulin, so probably worth getting used to it anyway

Mines was a replacement sent out the beginning of last year, as I say if I find it I'll let you know and you can decide whether you want to take it or not xx

My Xpert still seems to work (just set the date, no strips to test), not used it since 2018, acquired in 2010, but not used all that time. Suspect I also have a spare pouch from Xpert or one of my other meters, would be useful for protection in transit.
If you still need one, you may as well get some use from it. Can't see me going back to it as been given new meter and Libre.
