I started on 2 pills a day was was suposed to go up to 4 after a few wks but DR phoned formally check up and as I had bought a monitor and my bloods are generaly between 5 and 8.5 she agread to me just sticking at 2 pills not 4 and reassess in 2.5 month when I have the 3 month checkup again. So want to drop to 100 kg by then, 5 down still got 25kg to go. assume that's a good idea.

Sounds like you've got a great doctor! Firstly being sensible enough to accept that monitoring is a Good Thing (my DN told me flatly they discouraged type 2s to monitor!) and secondly for giving you the chance to use diet and current meds rather than increasing the meds.

Fingers crossed that your next hba1c is good 🙂

Well..... to be blunt in my head it was a good idea. My Dr's is opperating by just a phone call from a random Dr and she was reading my notes through the call and I am convinced she's not a specialist in diabetes. So I was looking for a 2nd opinion from you lot. But if I can keep blood to under 8 ish with 2 tablets that's probably better than relying on pills? Yes?no?

8 should be the maximum bs you are looking at and preferably below. If you cut out or down some simple carbs such as potatoes, bread etc, this should help the levels stay lower, in which case I personally would have thought 2 metformin per day was ok. However, I'm not a medical professional! I was very reluctant to go from 2 to 3 metformin per day, but it certainly worked and I'm now down to 1 a day, with a view to coming off them entirely when I have my next hba1c text in 3 months.

Hope other people come along and gives their opinion to give you a balanced view 🙂

Metformin does not work directly on reducing blood sugar, it encourages the muscles to use glucose more efficently.

Another reason is out and about all day so no where near a toilet lol. hope is to drop a lot of weight change diet and to kick it onto remission
