Hello I was offered 84 Metaformin tabs but after 3 weeks had enough as by then 100% off food, listless and flatulent. I now find mine is an instant dose taken at a meal (if eating!) but what is this slow release version? Anyone found it tolerable.? One week off and better! Dignity2020

Hi. Yes, I'm on SR and it is a lot better. GPs don't prescribe it to start with as it's a bit (only a bit) more expensive and as a result NICE says to start with the plain version. Do ask for the SR.

Yes I take the SR -after finding the ordinary didn't suit me- find most of the time it is fine.

Thanks everyone - I shall ask to speak to the prescribing diabetic nurse later. This forum has locked me out over "wrong" password so glad to read some feedback! Dignity2020

I had been taking the normal version for almost 3 years, then became sensitive to it. I changed to the Slow release version and have had no issues since.
