It seems that three versions (listed in the linked article) have been withdrawn in Singapore. European manufactures are being asked to test theirs, and none have been found to be affected so far. As this article points out, the chemical concerned is also found in preserved food, and in the atmosphere.

Hello there David.

I don't use Metformin, but did have a MIMS update today, talking about this. From memory, the issue is in some formulations from Singapore.

In your shoes, I would drop into the pharmacy and ask for a consultation with they pharmacist. They are usually very up to date with these things. In the meantime, have a look at the paperwork for your brand, and look at the ingredients. It is one particular thing - N-Nitrosodimethylamine (MDNA), mentioned in this newspaper article that you are looking for in the ingredients.

From what I have read, you have little to fear in UK, but please do see the pharmacist to close it off in your mind.
