When I first started taking M, I got the usual beginners' side-effects. They gradually decreased to virtually nil. So far, so good.

Since the New Year, I have been keeping my carbs as low as possible and have become increasingly flatulent. Last night after my weigh-in success, I treated myself to a Chinese carb-fest. Today, no windy discomfort.

Any explanation? Replies on a postcard please!

I don't know, but perhaps it needs a certain amount of carbs to be taken? Perhaps your dose is now too high in light of your weight loss and also your reduced carb intake?

I always find if I eat too many carbs I get very flatulant and have to do toilet dash, can't offer an explanaition except to say perhaps there if a fine balance between taking metformin and carb intake?
