Communication and support from family and friends are crucial for people suffering from a mental illness - that was just one of the messages at a book launch last week.
More than 100 people attended the launch of ?Diary of a Bipolar survivor? by local woman Elaine Fogarty, which charts her journey through the illness.
Elaine (45), who lives in Killicomaine, recently decided to ?go public? with her bipolar diagnosis after years of trying to hide it.
Her aim is to encourage people to talk about mental illness, which affects one in four people, and the book tells her honest and moving story in a series of poems and journal entries spanning 30 years.
