Ive called the Gp today and been told by there secratary that im not an important case and i can see the Dr the end of next month..

GREAT EH..

Mark

Mark,

I know this may seem a little wierd, but if you tell the receptionist that you are having thoughts of self harm or worse then they are obbliged to get your GP to see you in all urgency. If the don't do so, I would consider asking to spewak to the practice manager and explaining why you need to see your GP urgently. If you've been treated for depression (whether by medication or talking) previously, your GP should give priority to you if that is the subject of the appointment.

Hope that you get to see your GP soon, and please, do remember there will always be days that seem so dark that you can not see any light or possible chance of happiness, but sooner or latter you will find something to be happy about.

Obviously your GP's secretary is an unemployed Dr so is able to make such decisions. Oh she/he isn't !!!

Call back or get your OH to call on your behalf.

Your OH just needs to tell the truth that you are really distressed and that after getting off the phone you are in an even more distressed and that she hates to think what state you will be in in x number of weeks. Isn't there any way that you can have a phone consultation or an emergency one.

That way they might listen.

Hi all,

Feeling a bit more positive this morning and well, Ive decided sod the ale..
When i get feelings of depression im gonna hit my cross trainer. Thats got to be better. And im gonna chase the Gp today enough is enough...

Mark

Glad you are feeling a bit better today - and good luck with getting an appointment.

Glad to here you are feeling a little more postive today. Good luck with chasing up your GP, as Dale says if you tell the receptionist that you are having thoughts of self harm etc then they must get you an appointment and you must insist that they do! I am really shocked at the attitude of the receptionist, that is really not on. All the best, I hope things improve soon xx

Well done Mark. You know what you have to do and you do it. Be proud of yourself. 🙂

I'd be cautious about "crying wolf" - claiming thoughts of self harm UNLESS you really are having them. Stating distress is (or at leats should be) sufficient.

Hope your appointment goes well, Mark.

I agree with copepod. You should never say you are considering sels harm unless you are.
