With apologies to T2s not on insulin, I am just noticing how much more effective my insulin is being today than normal - even recent warm days.

I’m doing a little pottering in the garden after some housework and I’m needing lots of carby top-ups to stop my sensor glucose from plunging downwards.

Ice cream and biscuits added to the regular pre-hypo Lucozade swigs, but still more is needed.

Anyone else having one of those days today?

Yes I am ... had horrendous levels after breakfast so corrected and all morning had issues . I have walked 6 miles this morning, so that is probably the cause !!

I had one of those yesterday, my 5 mile walk turned out of be a 4 jelly babies and a whole banana affair. Today's a gardening day, and I’m getting away with more snacks I think, without really noticing it.

I had one of those nights and early morning. I can not see a reason for it but managed to eat 100gm of carbs insulin free and feel like a beached whale as a result.

Lucky you I only need 5 / 10 gems of carbs to correct

Oh it wasn't an all at once binge it was like every hour on the hour. I was still low at 6.30AM so had 40 carbs then as well as walking for an hour with the dog. I still came back from the walk with a reading of 4.8.

Well I am type 2 but there are days I just want more carbs especially after pottering in the garden, but since lockdown more carbs has been on the menu. I am only taking 1 metformin and there have been mornings I was on 4.4 before food, I did wonder if metformin works better if you have reasonable amount of carbs, or maybe my body is becoming pre diabetic again.

Who knows.

Enjoy all those lovely naughties 😛

I have been getting the same problem for a couple of weeks now which is fairly normal for me but i allways forget every year to reduce my basal ,as it gets hotter and more active outside i start by reducing my basal by 30% then 40% if needed but it is a pain when my control has been level for so long still that's life ,i am very interest in open and closed loop for my next pump next year but that's another thread to research .

Phew...thought it was just me. Really think yesterday and today I could have got away with barely any insulin! Double amount of carbs to raise levels...then oops, going down again. Haven’t really been out in the hot weather and warm summers don’t usually affect me so dramatically. Have dropped basal to the lowest ever over last few days...possibly another half tomorrow....just waiting for levels to go up before bed...a digestive with marmalade and two jelly babies has barely done anything...cut bolus with dinner too.:(

Hey Lisa - our daughter who does our weekly shopping for us, bought us (well, we paid for it LOL) some biscuits she knew her dad would like, They're the old fashioned somewhat smaller diameter McVities digestives half covered in milk choc (but I can't have everything can I) and they are marmalade flavoured. Before you ask - yes of course I tried one! Very nice!

I can wait till they do the dark choc ones …..

Heat exercise, planned unplanned body dont care, think being on pump would make things easier but doesn't work like that.

Still nice to indulge in choc bar biscuits when arrow pointing straight down on libre.
