Saturday was a day of hope, learning, and for the kids, some fun, at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology. The institute's annual Meet the Scientists" day brought out the institute's experts on diabetes and officials from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's San Diego chapter, which has funded the La Jolla Institute's research.
Parents of those with type 1 or "juvenile" diabetes brought their children. All got a chance to tour the labs at the institute and ask the scientists about progress being made against the disease.
