Has anyone tried keto diet pills and are they safe to use my husband has type 2 diabetes and has recently started metformin

Hi @Nan06

There are four main levers you can use to manage diabetes. Firstly you need to control intake of carbohydrates. These are rapidly broken down in the body into glucose. This means sugary things but also bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, tropical fruits etc. Secondly exercise will help bring BG down. Thirdly weight loss (if your husband needs to loose weight) will also help. A finally you have medication. If you cut down on carbs you may well see ketones present in urine meaning the body is starting to burn fat. In my opinion keto diet pills are a complete waste of time. Switching to a low carb, high fat diet has been found by many T2s (including myself) to be the best way of managing blood glucose.

Are they the ones which contain ketones?
They are about the same as a fake tan for protecting against sunburn.
Any ketones I have in my blood are as a result of controlling my blood glucose levels, they are a by product, nothing more.

Thanks for your advice well appreciated will try a low carb diet instead

Hi again @Nan06

Do you know what your husband's HbA1c was? This is the blood test used for diagnosis. It would have been above 48 although a number of members have started in three figures. This is useful as it will let everyone know how big the hill is you have to climb together
