Today my stomach pain has been really bad and I've taken the Omprazole and Domperidone I usually take. My GP prescribed me Rinitidine at one point but I can't remember if I can take these alongside the other two (I have some tablets at home but have left the box and leaflet at work).

I will ask a pharmacist if still the same tomorrow and no-one on here knows, just thought I'd ask in case anyone has experience of this medication?

thanks,

Kelly.

I can't directly answer question, but I do know that ranatidine and omeprazole act in completely different ways, although they produce the same effect. (I'm on lansoprazole myself, which is a close relative of omeprazole.)

For long-term treatment, the regular dose is usually half of the maximum safe amount. In your situation I might check the patient leaflet and take a second omeprazole rather than attempt to mix drugs.

Hi Newbs I'm sorry that I don't know the answer but hope that you feel better soon x

Hi Newbs, sorry you have the belly ache :( Omniprazole and it's mates give me dreadful tummy ache and made me very ill due to vomiting for England, so do make sure it's not them causing your belly ache. There are websites which you can input the drug names and see if they interact or even look for the patient leaflet on line.
Hope you feel better soon.

LeeLee - I have doubled up the Omeprazole, hopefully that'll help soon.

Amanda - Do you know if it is safe to take Gaviscon with Domperidone?

Pumper_Sue - I've been taking Omeprazole daily for years so know I'm ok with them. I've now looked the patient leaflet up online (didn't think of doing that!) but it doesn't really answer my question. I will ask the pharmacist tomorrow to be safe.

Thanks.

Hi Newbs,

I used to take Ranitidine a few years ago, but it stopped working for me, so now I am Omeprozole and have been for several years with no problems. I used to take two per day when I was on a very large dose of Aspirin. So far I have never had any problems with it. Hope you feel better soon.

Spoke to pharmacist today - he said that my gp should never have prescribed ranitidine to take at the same time as omeprazole! Glad I didn't take them yesterday.

Glad you have the correct info now newbs.
Are you feeling better now?

Sorry Newbs I've only just seen your post. This just my personal opinion - I would take Gaviscon with Domperidone but not sure whether I would take Gavison with omeprazole or whether I would double the omeprazole. Are you able to see your GP today to see what he suggests?

can't answer the question but next time you need to know NHS direct might be able to help

I take Omeprazole and have always been told absolutely no to gaviscon or other antacids on top of it?

So I'd guess that's because it does the same sort of thing?

I'd check with your dr though - I am sure they all make this stuff up depending on who it is😉

hubby is on something for osteoarthrits and with something to protect his stomach and has been told no anatcids atall. We keep in things like peppermint and ginger tea bags to help settle tummies.

It makes sense that you should avoid other antacids I guess, think I'll just stick to the ones I'm on. Thanks.
