Just had a blood test and noticed it still says Type 2 on my records. told the nurse I am now type 1 since being diagnosed as such by the hospital DSN. she said perhaps you're type 1 1/2, the new thing that nobody knows where its come from. I said, yes it's exactly that, but I'm being treated as type 1. She said they would leave type 2 on the records to save confusion, as it's not straighforward! She's a lovely lady, but I think the record needs changing. However, I have an appointment with DSN at the same surgery in a couple of weeks, so will challenge it again. Just worried that if anything happens to me and they check with local surgery - they will get wrong info. Also just had ID bracelet done with type 1 on it.

Confusing or what!

hmm very confusing indeed i would like you stated have a word , the exact details need to be written in your records and on your bracelet so the right action can be taken if anything does happen to you

Thanks Steff, glad I'm not loosing it! think I might email hospital DSN too, as it's his diagnosis.

definetly hun it is a very worrying thing not only do you need to know your correct diagnosis but those around you so they can treat you in the correct manor if you ever get into bother

just realised i have repeated myself basically lol

Don't worry - judging by the posts I've been reading today, I think there's something in the air... LOL So sad so many are having downers at the moment.

sure is, thats when we all need to pull together i know we cant be with them individualy in body but in this forum we can all help them in our own ways

Doctors do make mistakes, you're not alone. A couple of months ago I went to the GP for something or other and noticed when she had my record up it said type 2! I don't know who changed it or when but it was news to me! I have been type 1 since I was 11 and yes I am fat but that shouldn't change my diabetes type! I got her to change it but then I was put on metformin so they have probably changed it back by now. At least it is only my GP, the hospital clinic is where I mostly go and they seem to know I am type 1.

Oh dear! Doesn't instil confidense does it? My main concern is emergency services having the correct information if they need to treat quickly. However, our type and treatment will surely affect other treatment and medication we may need at any one time, so the correct information is sooo important is it not?

(Does anyone else have problems typing letters in the wrong order, or am I developing Alzeimers too?)

Having worked with computer systems for the last 25 years, it really annoys me when people deliberately choose to leave incorrect information on file. Maybe the nurse in question didn't have the authority to change the records. In the past (not too long ago, I believe - late '70's?) there was no distinction made between the two main types - might be better if their records showed that you were diabetic, then had a sub-class detailing the type. They need me to rewrite their systems for them...!🙂

Somebody needs to they're c**p! always going slow, not coming on at all - altho I guess this is more liekly due to the computers/server they're using than the programme?

Nothing to do with diabetes but i was at the nurse a while ago and i saw it flashed up "MISSED ABORTION" on the front page of my notes, I asked what it meant because i certainly had never had an abortion and was quite offended, the nurse said "oh no thats what we call a miscarrage" Well i was so upset becasue i didn't know that i had miscarried a baby but had needed to go into hospital many years ago for "womens things!" anyway she assured me that unless i had miscarried they wouldnt have written that on the notes. Went to see the GP who went through all my manuel notes and said that i had gone into hospital for the removal of product of pregnancy, they had left some placenta inside when my daughter was born. So the person who had input the information had assumed it was a miscarrage!.
The can't take it off my notes either!

Anyway i would make them change the type to type 1 as it could mean life or death in an emergency, touch wood you will never need it!

Sorry thread a tad graphic but i should be a senior member after this post!

How awful for you! They may not be able to remove it, but I'm sure they could put an additional note correcting it. I know we can all make mistakes, but I hope you got an apology for such a truamatic experience.
