Medical licence renewal times !!

Managed to speak to a lovely young lady from the DVLA this evening, who informed me my licence application had been scanned onto the system back in November. My forms were posted on the 16th of October.
Licence ran out the 19th of December, young lady had no idea when someone would actually get around to looking at the info or issuing a new licence.

Good news is at least I know they have the licence 🙂

The delays now are horrendous!

Have you asked your GP for the OK to drive under Section 88?

I applied for mine online before starting work this morning.
So far, it seemed straight forward.

I now feel ....

They have until April to sort it so, hopefully ...

Yes GP is fine and note made on medical records to that effect 🙂
Unfortunately I can not do mine on line due to having MS as well as diabetes oh and the mug shot needed redoing as well
Last renewal took 12 weeks not expecting licence back anytime soon.

I renewed my license online.
I think you can do it before it expires and before you get a reminder.

I have no other medical issues apart from Type 1 diabetes and have had no hypos requiring assistance.
My replacement license arrived 6 days after my application was submitted.

You are encouraged to reapply online as so much quicker.
Unfortunately for me I had to do a postal renewal due to having MS as well as diabetes so can't be done online oh and also had to send in a new photo.
5 months down the line I still I still have no licence, so have emailed the chief ex of the dvla asking for a very simple easy to understand why my licence still has not been issued. There is no record of any medical enquiries been made and the last time I spoke to a real person at the dvla, he said it was uploaded on the system and he had no idea when someone would look at it.

I applied online, after figuring out eventually you could do it online. tried phoning DVLA, no answer, obviously biscuit time . License renewed within 3 weeks. Just a little concerned got paperwork renewal forms afterwards….no doubt a disaster waiting to happen

Lucky you I had no choice but to do a postal application.

Posted mine signed for 16th may. Still not back. Ha, got pulled for speeding 38 in a 30. young copper asks for my licence. Told him dvla had got it. Usual crap thought he was going to nick me for driving without licence. I said medical renewal dvla not sent it back. Oh his sergeant could contact dvla ( should 've asked for number) Anyhow he came back and said everything was ok m.o.t insurance, tax. Licence must be ok then. So i says why havent they sent my licence back. Typical copper shrugged his shoulders " don't know".

I got my licence back on 22 June - also 5 days after online renewal application. Two days later i got a letter advising all the medical checks were completed successfully and I would get my new licence within 10 days......

What peed me off more than anything was the fact no checks were made re my licence it was just uploaded on the system and there it sat for 7 months. I know this as a fact as I checked with GP and neurologist and also the dvla admitted no checks were made.
If the staff at dvla got off their backsides and actually did some work then there would be no delays.

I sent mine for renewal last November. Still not received new one. I phoned only to be told it is being being processed.
