^it's also considered a fairly old fashioned way of saying it, although I do appreciate it is still used. It's important to differentiate which type you have in an emergency due to the risk of DKA for a type 1 etc. Being insulin dependent covers a few different types! 🙂
 
Just to throw a spanner in the works - mine reads T2 insulin dependant, as normally you don't associate T2s with insulin
