Ever since getting my licence back from DVLA as a short term and only car use on I've been annoyed, grr!

I've tried a few tacks to understand if I can get up to 7.5 tonnes back on my licence, although I don't need it for work I find it useful/handy.

Finally I received a letter last week, telling me to fill in 2 forms, even though they sent me 5!?! I think I need to fill them all out, no problem there at all, reading into the info booklet about the forms, if I'm under 45 (which I am) and I have the medical examination report filled in and and proved satisfactory, then so long as I don't have any further health issues, I should be good till I'm 70! Well that'll be debatable, but I'm happy.

So the real question is have any of you had to fill out this "Medical Examination Report" form D4, it looks like you've got to go to your GP and line their pockets with silver. Does anybody have experience of this, how much does it cost? I'm going to try and arrange an appointment for when I'm off next week.

Thanks.

I think it depends on your individual drs surgery. Mine charge ?45.00.

Ross,

Sorry I have some bad news for you... the law has changed in the last few years. The 7.5 tonne group C1 entitlement is now classed as a LGV.

Have a look at this document from Peterborough PCT. http://tinyurl.com/c1diabetes

About the medical, shop around. There are companies that will do a D4 medical exam for less than most doctors surgeries.

I phoned the quacks today they said poop the form in they'll have a look and let me know if they'll charge anything for doing it and if I need to see them?!?

Sorry to drag this up again but I'd like to confirm something.

Okay so I'm on insulin on a short term licence.

My licence only has categpryies B, BE, and fklnp.

I passed my test in'94.

I would like to add categories C1 and C1+E, which is classified as LGV/medium-sized vehicles.

Now I contacted DVLA, explaining my situation, they sent me a letter and a handful of forms, all which make sense and I can fill in.

However I've read some information in booklets, online, and from pointers from you lot (thanks) and I'm getting mixed messages, will I be able to get these categories back on my licence??

I've spoken to my doctor, and she says I need a double appointment with the nurse (lucky me or lucky her?) and a double appointment with my doc (now she is nice but a little whacky!!) also need to go to opticions for eye examination. Doc and nurse charging eighty bucks, eyes I think are twenty five, totting up to over a ton, so I want to know if this is worth while!?

Thanks for your time again peeps.:D
