Magic is one of numerous medical detection dogs in the UK trained to alert his diabetic owner when her blood sugar levels drop dangerously low.

But what makes the 18-month-old pooch extra special is that his owner is Claire Pesterfield - a nurse at Addenbrooke?s hospital in Cambridge who suffers from the same condition as her patients.

The Labrador and Golden Retriever cross can potentially save Claire?s life by noticing minute odour changes in her body, which could signal the onset of a hypoglycaemic emergency.
