Depends how much time you spend on your own and don't test diligently while you are doing it .......

When I went out round the shops - even just to nip out for a sandwich - at lunchtime whilst at work, I'd test before I went; 45 mins later I'd test again before I jabbed and ate. When I went home at 5.30 I'd test before leaving and I needed to be 7 because I had a half mile walk to the car. Ditto before I went out to work in a morning. Approx 20 min drive. Ditto pre Tesco (c 8 min drive) and test again before driving home because supermarket shopping is a known hypo danger activity!

Every hour test when city centre shopping. Good excuse to have a coffee AND a cake IMHO.

Rarely do long driving trips alone, but test every hour-ish should I have to. If in doubt, I simply overkill any lower than wanted BG.

Bus train or plane trips, same hour-ish.

I truly truly do not believe I am irresponsible.

And with the boot on the other foot, if I saw someone who I thought could be having a hypo, well I'd have no hesitation in 'assaulting' them and doing their BG. You've already 'assaulted' them by putting em in the recovery position, or if you tried for a pulse - so may as well get hung for a sheep as a lamb .....

I got a bracelet from Ice Gems with my details engraved. Name, contact info and allergies etc and I also carry cards in my various handbags :D

Interesting comments...

I say interesting as there seems to be an assumption that if you wear an medical ID then everything will be fine and Joe Public will come to your aid and medical treatment with be forth coming much quicker...

The reality of it all, it very rarely makes a difference at all...

Because it's totally requires the need for somebody to STOP and LOOK for the information...

Which doesn't happen very often..

We found this out last year, when Les had a major hypo several people who could of stopped and called out the police/ambulance to help walked on by leaving what they deemed to be a 'drunk' person semi-concious on the floor😱 Lucky for Les he had the dogs with him, who already before he collapsed had started to take action to get help to him...

I think you've missed the point a bit. You don't wear identification, you wear it in case something happens to you - if you are knocked down by a car, assaulted, involved in a car accident the medical professionals will find out your medical requirements quicker with the identification.
There are lots of stories posted on this board about Joe publics lack of knowledge of diabetes, so I wouldn't expect their reaction to a medical situation to be any different.

Yes, I have always regarded it as being necessary not if I suddenly crash with a hypo, but in case some other accident befalls me that I have no control over. I just carry a card with me. Just trying to remember those brilliant funny cards someone posted a while back - I'll have a look for the link...

Found it!
