Well, I always struggle with my sugars in the mornings. Wake up around 6-7 ish and then mid morning suffer with highs.

So I upped my morning bolus ratio to deal with it. Don't often have time to do a 2hr post brekkie test as am at work and i was still getting high pre-lunch readings of around 7-8.

Actually took my 2 hr post brekkie test today and it was 4.5 😱 I know this isn't yet hypo but do you think my high pre-lunches may have been due to too much breakfast bolus, me not noticing a hypo and then my liver dumping?

I've just had 1 jelly baby and will see how far this brings me up in 20mins.

Some more testing is needed me thinks 🙂

Very unlikely. At 2 hours, the main action for your bolus is done. It's more likely that your basal is running out - Insulatard is VERY peaky and then switches off around the 16-18 hour mark which makes it very hard to manage in conjuction with bolus insulins.

If I had a 4.5 2 hours after eating/injecting, I'd definitely be feeling the hypo within a short period afterwards. Might depend on timing though, if the insulin is peaking, bringing you low, but then your food peak raises you again before you are hypo, leaving you higher pre-lunch?

It is normally 2 hrs after breakfast when I have my high readings. So I started using more bolus at breakfast which seemed to be causing higher pre lunch readings not lower ones.

So think I was going hypo from too much breakfast bolus and then getting a liver dump before lunch readings making them higher than they should be.

I've caught this mornings hypo and treated it and now I'm staying nice and level so I don't think it's the bolus that's out.

I haven't found insulatard peaky in particular yet
