If young children can recognise logos of junk food products, their parents need not feel proud. Brand recognition of such products could actually be unhealthy for your child.
There is a link between brand recognition and body mass index (BMI), which is a measure of obesity. This has been found in a new study among urban Indian children.
Children who can recognise brand logos tend to pester their parents to buy those products and end up being overweight or obese, the first-of- its-kind study has found. The study, done by Christian Medical College, Vellore, and Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, appeared in the latest issue of scientific journal PLoS One.
