A former town councillor will be putting his best foot forward when he runs the Manchester Marathon later this year.
But instead of just raising money for charity, Andrew Wagner will be pounding the streets to help buy a life-saving dog for a Shrewsbury girl whose story has touched his heart.
The 45-year-old father-of-two heard of Keira Diavati, nine, from his wife Lucy, who is a lunchtime supervisor at St George’s School in Copthorne which Keira attends.
The schoolgirl suffers from type-1 diabetes and a diabetic insulin pump was fitted to her stomach in 2011. She currently has to count every carbohydrate after first weighing food, and activities are severely limited in case the pump becomes detached or freezes up in very cold weather.

Fitted to her stomach? Activities severely limited? Pump freezing up? 🙄 And why will having a dog redcue testing and pump site changes??
