For a number of reasons I haven’t been able to play golf since October 2023. Now newly diagnosed diabetic T2 and feeling great I feel I can get back on the course. But I need some general advice on how to manage the diet on a 3 to 4 hour round. Sometimes I need to be teeing off about 10:30 (if playing for the Seniors team). Suggestions welcome.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

it would help if you can tell us how you manage your diabetes ie. what if any medication you are on for your diabetes, your HbA1c result if you know it (the blood test used to diagnose you) and do you check your levels with a finger prick blood test or sensor?

Hi and welcome,
I am not a golfer but know a fair few. However, diet has never been something they discuss - the best brand of balls has been the topic of long conversations but never diet.
To help us non-golfers understand, perhaps you could share what you would typically eat and why a round of golf would change that? Do you get hungry when on the course or need extra "fuel" beforehand?

To my mind things like hba1c make no difference to a "Four hour walk spoilt" but maybe @rebrascora has something else in mind.

Hello, welcome to this corner of the internet. As @rebrascora asks. What meds are prescribed. Do you use any form of BG monitoring. Golf is not my game. But hopefully someone with your condition who does can actually give personal experience advice.
