Hi everyone & many thanks for your help & advice it is really appreciated honestly , would it be possible to say a little about metformine please as I don't use it ?

thanks Jason

Hi, I use it along with Gliclazide and Byetta. I have the slow release version and once when the chemist in his wisdom gave me a generic version I had stomach problems so Doc always specifies Glucophage SR. I know some people have problems with it but I seem to be fairly OK most of the time. It seems to be protective towards the heart which is a bonus and other benefits are unfolding.

Dear Lizzie 53 thankyou I'll find out if they are available over here

I was given Metformin a few years ago before any of the other drugs and then once I reached the maximum dose of Metformin I had Actos whixh was a bit of a nightmare and I put on a considerable amount of weight. The Actos was stopped and I was given Gliclazide and later the Byetta. You don't usually have a chance of Byetta until other drugs don't really work anymore. Looking back I should have made much more of an effort to stay on top of it when I first had Metformin. I wasn't given good dietry advice and I wan't offered test strips so I had no idea that the balanced diet I was advised to eat wasn't actually helping me much.
