As mentioned on a couple of other people's post I have been reviewing diet now my body has adjusted to the current medication regime. Carbs intake over last week reduced to 150g carb per day. BG has reduced to 5 or 6mmol/l pre food and 7 to 8mmol/l after food. Using finger prick test meter. Last few days have felt light headed and nauseous in the afternoon even though BG tested around 7.5mmol/l
Exercised in the morning. Fairly gentle hour of Tai Chi or walking and I felt fine at the time
Is this normal?

I don't think so as I have increased proteins, veg and fats to keep calories around 2000 per day. This seems to keep my weight stable.

@silver minion You might be over medicated as low carb is so effective in lowering blood glucose - also high blood pressure and a number of other modern day problems.
Other possibilities might be dehydration, lack of salt and other electrolytes, or 'false hypos' due to your brain being used to higher blood glucose levels.
It might be an idea to contact your GP and letting them know your blood glucose levels and symptoms as you might not need tablets to be normal when eating low carb.

Thanks for the information. Not dehydrated as I drink fluids regularly and pee is normal. I eat a very varied diet, mostly prepared from scratch so vitamin/mineral levels are fine. Could be false hypos. I will up carbs a bit to see if that helps and monitor bg so it doesn't go to high. Pleased with the reduction over the past 4 weeks and hope that reflects on next Hba1c check in a couple of weeks. Will speak to nurse after results to see if I can reduce medication and continue to reduce carbs carefully.

I'd also ask of there was any testing done to see if you are something more interesting than an ordinary type 2 as that weightloss is not what most type 2s experience, and you are now at quite a low weight.
Other types can arise in adult life, not just in childhood.
