yesterday I did my normal test before my Evening meal which was 5.9 , then eat my meal of chicken, pepper, mushrooms and corgett, 2 hours later did my test and the reading was 5.6 , first time this has happened, just asking if certain foods can do this ? , still getting head round all this carb limits but feel I am making progress

Good readings! It wouldn't be any food that lowered your levels, blood glucose is affected by numerous other factors such as exercise, temperature, hormones. I think there was a post some time ago where someone listed about 40 factors!
To be honest, given the limited accuracy of meters, 5.9 and 5.6 are more or less the same.

I agree with @silentsquirrel, the meal you ate seems to have suited your body perfectly on this occasion and caused little or no change in BG values at 2 hours. You might have seen a slight difference at 1 hour, but in either case, the meal seems to be a good choice for you BG-wise 🙂
