Well it's like a wee winter wonderland here and once again the snow has caught me out with Ben. Our usual walk with the dog = 2.8 this morning then playing outside after dinner , despite jelly babies on way out door, =2.2! Guess its a combination of the cold and I guess walking in snow is a lot more effort but worryingly with both he had very few signs - guess I'm going to need to be extra vigilant while it lasts!

Hi Ruth,
Walking and playing in snow needs a lot more effort, so might be worth cutting back on his basal and or bolus. Even a longer lasting snack without a bolus might be worth thinking about just before he goes out to play.
Hope Ben enjoyed the snow :D

Thanks sue will def do that next time - he had a ball - all exhausted now!

Plus, face and lips often feel tingling in cold air, so that symptom of hypoglycaemia isn't detected by the person as soon as normal - I have certainly found that when out playing in the snow (46 is not too old to play in snow!) and cross country skiing in UK or hut to hut touring in Norway.

Never rely on anything with caramel for sugar in the cold - solid caramel can break your teeth!
