Beef Short Ribs with with leeks and lentils. In this case the ribs were cooked in a water bath at 69 degrees for 48 hours. But you could do them in the oven.

Sounds lovely, but a bit heavy on energy use. A trip to supermarket this afternoon resulted in 2 portions of hunter's chicken for £1.88 (reduced on use by date) and a 350g head of locally grown broccoli for 43p. Chicken currently in oven - 40 mins cooking time. Will freeze one cooked portion when cool. Will steam some broccoli florets.

I thought that black stuff was caviar!

Makes my effort for food pathetic. 30 mins in over for 4 chicken breasts with curry paste and coconut milk. Will serve 2 as no rice with it!

You must have an Aroha Vic. 48hrs is not a cheap dish ? :D
I didn't say it was cheap and what is an Aroha? The ribs were relatively cheap, but a tough cut of beef. Chicken does tend to be the cheapest and tenderest meat and I did say you could cook the ribs in an oven, but oven cooking is not cheap.
48hrs is not long in sous vide terms and a sous vide machine doesn't use much power (I have seen estimates that a 24hr cook takes 1.66Kw), it's comparable to a slow cooker. I wouldn't sous vide a chicken breast either, it would fall to pieces in no time.

Sorry Vicsetter An Arga. Lots of power (I is nor a good spella) :D
