Hi all,
Hoping for a bit of advice - I am a Type 2, diagnosed in September 2020 with an HbA1C of 103. By December I had got it down to 43. I'm on 2000mg of Metformin a day, and have been shifting a reasonable amount of fat. I'm now 17st 4lb, down from 22st 3lb in November 2019, and 19st 12lb when diagnosed. I moved away from testing BS regularly a few weeks ago, although still test once a day at least. Up until a few weeks ago my readings would mostly be between 5-7. I have been eating low carb - no potatoes, bread, rice, pasta etc. In the last few days I have had a couple of wobbles where I have had readings of 4.0, including this morning only 3 hours after I had eaten breakfast (100g of Shreddies with 200ml of lactose free semi-skimmed milk - I have in the last 2-3 days experimented with some cereal with neither Shreddies nor Weetabix causing a spike for me as yet). It feels like this is too low such a short time after eating. I know that Metformin isn't supposed to cause hypos, but am concerned that my dosage may be too high. I have arranged with my GP surgery for a repeat HbA1C on 4th March - should I be asking for advice from the Diabetic Nurse/GP before then? Should I be worried about BS getting as low as 4.0? Sorry for all the questions - but I am working from home at the moment, and want to make sure I have things fully under control.
Many thanks,
Mark
