Can anyone on fast acting insulin like NovoRapid loss weight . I just keep putting on the weight spend around an hour on the treadmill everyday started on protein but nothing is coming off. Asked the nurse what was the worse could happen if I started taking Mounjaro and she said die . Does anyone with diabetes type 1 take Mounjaro and does it make you feel ?

Welcome @Angelo1977 🙂 I’ve been taking insulin for more than 30 years, including Novorapid, and I’m still slim. The insulin we take is just replacing the insulin we make. It doesn’t make you fat. Have you taken a look at your diet? Are you feeding a lot of hypos? Have you had things like your thyroid checked?

Mounjaro isn't licenced for use by people with Type 1 yet so I suspect you would have difficulty finding someone who would prescribe it even privately.
I think you would need to be very wary of severe hypos although CGM's would probably help to reduce that risk but if you were nauseous or vomiting as side effects of the drug then treating a hypo might be very difficult.
Also, there is I believe, a low risk of pancreatitis but I am not sure that is any greater for someone with Type 1 than Type 2.

What dietary approaches have you tried to lose weight?

Many people here on the forum who are Type 2 find going low carb helpful and that shouldn't be any different if you are Type 1 as long as you adjust your doses for what you eat and also assess and adjust your basal insulin as necessary as you lose weight.
I follow a low carb approach for my general health and diabetes management and if I want to lose weight I reduce my carb intake a bit further and up my exercise. Another option might be the soups and shakes meal replacement products. Obviously you would again need to adjust your insulin doses according to what you eat.

What sort of doses of insulin are you currently on? Are you suffering from obvious insulin resistance and if so, have you tried Metformin or asked to try it? Metformin can also act as an appetite suppressant for some people. There are certainly some Type 1s who are prescribed Metformin to help with insulin resistance.

Pretty sure you won’t get a private prescription for it as a type 1
