As per title, dead chuffed, but its not from any effort on my part I just have no hunger after my BG was brought down to normal levels.
I now have lots of loose skin on the back of my hands which is cool, but a bit freaky.

Someone said that lack of appetite is normal for someone with previously high BG, so my question is... Has anyone else experienced this?

Wow, that's quite a rate of weight loss! The problem is that when you are not using the energy from food efficiently, as indicated by high blood sugars, your brain thinks that actually you mustn't be getting enough, so it sends out signals to EAT MORE FOOD 😱 Once you start using the food more efficiently, you don't get these signals, so your appetite becomes more normalised 🙂 Your perceived lack of appetite is probably partly down to your previously great appetite.

It's the reason why, when my pancreas was starting to fail before diagnosis, I felt a massive urge to drink huge quantities of milk - I thought it was because I was thirsty. It was, partly, because my high levels were making me pee more frequently, but what I only realised later was that I was also craving energy from the sugar (lactose) in the milk, and why I preferred it to plain water for my thirst.

It was high juice for me, chocolate and digestive biscuits with jam before diagnosis. Obviously as above I was needing the energy. I too lost weight without effort and only hungry sometimes now, but not that I don't have an appetite. I think I am using food better as I am looking for smaller portions as well, but it's not a sacrifice. Weird how your mind starts to try to sort things out.well done Palmoff for your weight loss

I ate ridiculous amounts of Caramac. I have no idea how, it's so so sickly. But - very sweet of course.

I don't think I have actually ever felt hungry again, since 1972. I eat because that's what people do a mealtimes, and if I have to make it for my husband, I spose I better have some too, hadn't I?

Plus if I do just stop eating (and I have done sometimes, esp when having a mental breakdown) my ruddy diabetes will NOT behave itself at all. It's really boring!

You have started this thread off on completely the wrong way. What you should do is say 'Hey everybody I've got this really cool diet where you lose 2st in 4 weeks. The whole world goes mad on it. You make millions of pounds from it and buy an island in the Caribbean. Happy and retired watching the sun come up every morning. Of course you must remember your commercial manager who is..........well me of course 🙂. All joking aside losing 2st is really good going no matter how you achieve it. Very well done. I ride a racing bike quite a lot and find it a really good way of losing timber. The problem is that I lack the will power to stick at it wholesale and therefore hammer it and then back off it. This is because inside I am a completely lazy pig :(

I lost over three stone in three months, but most of it was just that sugary stuff that makes your face fat. It has slowed right down now. The real fat is much harder to shift.

I was ravenous for about 12 months after diagnosis, eat your hand stuff but that's probably because I lost so much muscle. Before diagnosis I realised something was wrong when fizzy orange juice and Reece's peanut butter cups were the only things that hit the spot (for 2 seconds) since I hate milk choc and really hate juice it was a sure fire indicator something was awry! I actually sort of miss the hunger in a weird way, it was lovely to be that enthused about food. Anyway glad you've found a benefit to lower blood sugar 🙂

Well this thread totally sums up my issue and huge weight gain over the last 6 years. Always so so hungry. Finally someone listened and put me on Victoza and now lost over a stone in 4 weeks without even trying. From 2nd day blood sugars back to normal range after being in high 20s and no appetite - just like I used to be. I now eat purely to fuel my body. Well done on your 2 stone loss - I hope it continues. I just worry how many more people are like me. 6 years of slimming clubs, exercise, even running half marathon to lose weight only to step on scales and see weight go up! Why don't the nurses/gps try this to start with or is it they don't understand themselves. I am trying so hard not to be angry at the knowledge if I had been given the injection 6 years ago I wouldn't have so much weight to lose now and wouldn't have needed therapy for the unhealthy relationship I now have with food.
